Automatic chicken coop doors

A good automatic door locks against lifting, opens wide enough for your breed (10 to 12 inches for standard hens, 13 or more for big breeds) and is rated for your coldest nights. Prices run from about $50 to $480.

Before you choose

Measure your pop door. Large breeds need a taller opening than bantams. In cold climates, check the lowest temperature the door is rated for, since batteries and motors slow down in the cold.
